Aloha kākou

‘O Amber Jeanette Pō’aikealoha ko’u inoa.

In this space you will find hua anini (glass beads) that I kui (string), shells that I harvest and gemstones that I collect and fashion into adornments inspired by my native ancestry and cultural background.

I studied Visual Communications and Art in college and my vocation was in creative writing, journalism and graphic design. I am originally from O’ahu but now reside on Hawai’i Island.

Beading and creating adornments have always been a therapeutic outlet for me. I am completely self taught and have been mesmerized by beads and early forms of jewelry making for as long as I can remember. My balance is hidden within thousands of tiny colored glass and gem bits. Every bit a star settling into a constellation or a thought weaving in and out of time. Thousands of ideas, like molecules, strung together until it makes something. Until I can, in return, make sense of some things.

I hope you enjoy the beaded compilation of my journey.
